About Us

changing lives one step at a time

Transcending Hope is a nonprofit organization built by people who are either in recovery or have been touched by addiction and recovery. We’ve found that those who have dealt closely with these issues understand the difficulties of starting a new life free of drugs and alcohol.

We offer safe, stable Recovery housing in Washington, Multnomah, and Clackamas Counties. Transcending Hopes team provides support to our residents, transitional programs, and community restoration program. Transcending Hope is here to help.

Recovery Housing

Mission Statement and Organizational Goals

Transcending Hope (TH) is a peer-driven nonprofit organization with a mission to provide low-barrier, safe, and structured recovery housing for individuals facing substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and housing instability. The organization values delivering culturally responsive services to support diverse communities, particularly the Latine population, in their journey toward stabilization and long-term recovery. The organization’s goals include: Expanding stabilization housing options for individuals recovering from substance use and mental health disorders. Providing culturally responsive and trauma-informed care to the most impacted communities. Establishing a continuum of care that connects residents to peer mentoring, case management, and community-based services. Enhancing community partnerships to support holistic recovery and housing stability.

Organizational History

Founded in 2009 as Fairhaven and rebranded in 2018, Transcending Hope has grown from 13 to 29 locations across the Portland Metro area. The organization specializes in transitional and stabilization housing, including:

  • Family housing, men’s and women’s housing (including family-friendly units), and culturally specific Latine housing.
  • Seven Aid & Assist Community Restoration homes serving high-acuity individuals with dual diagnoses.
  • Eight Behavioral Health Recovery Network (BHRN) homes established under Measure 110.

Transcending Hope has a proven track record of rapid project implementation, infrastructure development, and staff retention. TH’s experience in community-building, peer mentorship, and trauma-informed housing management makes TH highly qualified to provide peer support services. The organization employs staff with lived experience, ensuring an authentic and empathetic approach to service delivery. Key personnel, including Executive Director Deena Feldes, bring firsthand knowledge of navigating complex behavioral health systems, further enhancing their ability to serve high-acuity populations.
